OsiriX plugin for elasticity measurement of the aorta

AortoElasticity (AOEL) is an OsiriX plugin to calculate the following mechanical properties of the aorta:

  • Elastic modulus
  • Tensile stress and strain / Mises stress
  • Changes of diameter and wall thickness

 

AOEL automatically measures dimensional changes of an aortic cross section over a cardiac cycle in ECG-gated 4D CT images. Then it calculates those properties based on material mechanics theories.

 

The next section provides our research article showing mathematical representation of the calculation.


Based on Advanced Research

AortoElasticity is based on the original research article for measuring the elasticity and tensile stress of the aorta in cardiac CT images.
